Hallo, I am Mauricio Vélez,

I was born in Medellín with my eyes wide open. I grew up surrounded by color, shape, and detail — and I guess I carried that everywhere I went.

I've spent over 18 years in graphic design with a focus on advertising, and more than 15 in fashion and product photography, especially in the beauty world. These aren't two separate careers to me — they're the same eye looking from two different angles. Design taught me that an idea needs structure. Photography taught me that structure needs soul.

My role has always gone beyond execution: I move from concept to final piece. Art Direction is where I live — that space where an idea takes visual form, where you decide what's seen, how it's lit, what it communicates and why.

Six years ago I moved from Colombia to Germany — a big leap, no safety net. Here I've worked with two very different brands: first at Camel Active as a Senior Graphic Designer, where the fashion and lifestyle world gave me three years of intense creative growth; and now at ADA Cosmetics, where I combine my role as Senior Designer with product photography — a beauty universe where detail is absolutely everything.

I don't speak German yet, though I'm studying it with intention. I speak English fluently, along with my native Spanish. But more than languages, what drives me is visual language — and that one I've mastered.

I don't experience what I do as work. I experience it as who I am. And I think that shows in every image.
